Geotechnical report

“Geotechnical engineering is a branch of civil engineering. It studies the mechanical response of systems made up of bodies of soil, rock or both, in close contact or in association with structural elements. It is founded on the principles of soil and rock mechanics.”
By geotechnical design we mean the set of design activities that concern constructions or other works that interact with the ground, land improvement and reinforcement interventions, works in loose materials, excavation fronts as well as the study of the stability of the site where the work is located.
The objectives of the geotechnical design are the verification of the global and local safety conditions of the building-ground system, including the determination of the stresses of the structures in contact with the ground.
The Geotechnical Report is a document required to obtain the construction permit for a building. The geotechnical report is based on the interaction between the project work and the subsoil.
