Interior patios in houses in Colombia: 15 examples in plan

Being a region characterized by its wide variety of landscapes, biodiversity and thermal floors, the design of interior patios within Colombian homes accompanies living, resting, access and circulation spaces, being, on many occasions, protagonists and source of contact with the nature of the site that surrounds them.

The arrangement of internal courtyards in homes contributes to fostering the relationship between the interior and exterior, regardless of whether its position in the distribution is central, acts as a divider of different spatialities, articulates different programs or is used in residual spaces. Due to its location on the equatorial zone, one of the particularities of Colombia is that it does not have the four seasons of the year (summer, winter, autumn and spring), but beyond that, the climates are diverse, with temperatures above 24ºC in the warmest areas and less than 6ºC in the glacial areas.

Next, it will be presented a selection of 15 houses distributed among different regions of the Colombian territory that incorporate interior patios in their organization:
